WHAT'S NEW at APC?30% Energy Savings Realized in Green HVAC Controls Initiative – By integrating state-of-the art PLC controls with Artistic’s existing advanced fiber optic SCADA control network a savings of over 30% in overall energy usage was experienced this past winter season. This green initiative was instituted in the fall of 2009 as part of a continuous improvement project. “In today’s competitive global market place it is critical to continually find ways to do more with less,” says company President John Lindstedt. “We were amazed at the improvement in temperature consistency and energy savings that were realized by coupling modern control technology with our existing Honeywell SCADA network.” The company now utilizes the same centralized scheduling system that controls key processes within the facility such as tank and oven temperatures to maintain the exhaust and make-up air within the production plants. This advanced system can be accessed and controlled remotely through a secure Internet VPN session. Historical set points and conditions can also be viewed at anytime, as all data is continually stored on the company’s central server.
